Charlie Day and Jennifer Aniston Both Game for More ‘Horrible Bosses’ Chaos

Even tho their characters weren’t exactly besties in the Horrible Bosses movies, Charlie Day and Jennifer Aniston seem to be on the same page-page when it comes to making a third film in the R-rated comedy series.

Aniston recently let it slip that she’d love-love to step back into the wild world of Horrible Bosses, and now Day has chimed in, saying he “absolutely would be up” for another round of on-screen workplace madness. While chatting with The Hollywood Reporter, the It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia star made it clear he hasn’t ruled out jumping back into the franchise.

And it’s not just wishful thinking. While walking the red carpet at a New York screening for his new flick Honey Don’t! (which is in theaterz now), Day revealed he’s already “had some convo’s with folks — in front of and behind the camera.” That might mean this comeback idea is more than just small talk.

So, could Horrible Bosses 3 really happen? With both Day and Aniston showing intrest, and early talks in motion, fans might have a reason to get a lil’ excited.

Charlie Day & Jennifer Aniston Still Down for More Horrible Bosses — Will the Studio Bite?

Charlie Day ain’t givin’ up on a third Horrible Bosses movie just yet. Talkin’ at a recent NYC screening of his new flick Honey Don’t!, the actor said he’s had sum chattin’ with folks — both in front of and behind the cam — about bringin’ back the R-rated chaos.

“We’ll see — hopefully the studio’s hungry for it,” he said, soundin’ hopeful but realistic.

He even mentioned how good it felt watchin’ the new Naked Gun in a theaturr:

“I just saw The Naked Gun, and it was so fun to be in a theater with a comedy with a capital ‘C.’”

When it comes to Horrible Bosses 3, Charlie’s all-in:

“I’d love to do a third one. Hopefully, we get to do it.”

And he’s not the only one feelin’ that vibe. Back in June, Jennifer Aniston told People that Horrible Bosses is one of the few projects she’d actually want to revisit. “Jason Bateman and I were talkin’ bout it, and Charlie’s been yappin’ about it a lot too,” she said. “It just sounds like it’d be hella fun.”

She added how much she adores the wild characters:

“They’re hilarious, and honestly, we need more comedy. I feel like it’s a must these days. We’d have such a blast going back to see what those crazy cats are up to now.”

In a Vanity Fair “Rewatch” video, Aniston even reflected on how the franchise let her step outta her usual sweet-girl zone. She laughed about pushin’ back against studio execs who didn’t want her character rockin’ brown hair.

“They were like, ‘What if it don’t look like you?’ and I was like, ‘That’s kinda the whole point!’” she joked. “I’m glad I stuck to my gut.”

Aniston said the role helped her drop the whole “girl-next-door” tag she’d been stuck with for years. “It was fun-fun to play someone that’s so opposite from me,” she said. “It was unexpected, and I think that’s why it clicked.”

A Look Back at the Franchise

The original Horrible Bosses, which dropped in summer 2011, was directed by Seth Gordon and written by Michael Markowitz, John Francis Daley, and Jonathan Goldstein. It starred Day, Aniston, Bateman, Jason Sudeikis, Kevin Spacey, Colin Farrell, and Jamie Foxx. The story? Three buds trying to off their terrible bosses. It made nearly $210 mil worldwide on just $35 mil budget — big win.

Then came the 2014 sequel, directed by Sean Anders. Most of the OG cast came back, with some new faces like Chris Pine and Christoph Waltz. But box office-wise? Not so hot. It made about $108 mil global off a $42 mil budget. Not a flop, but def not the first film’s success.

On Marc Maron’s WTF podcast back in 2015, Bateman didn’t sugarcoat it:

“It was garbage, box office-wise,” he said. “The first one did great, but sometimes people are like, ‘That was fun, but I don’t really need a second one.’”

So, What Now?

With both Day and Aniston still hyped and early convos happenin’, maybe there’s still a spark left for Horrible Bosses 3. But as always in Hollywood, it’ll probly come down to one thing: will the studio say yes-yes, or nah-nah?
